Freight Traders Ltd has successfully managed the challenging transit of heavy-duty emission control infrastructure from New Zealand.
The industrial units are destined for a major building materials manufacturing facility abroad. The project represents a critical step in the client's commitment to upgrading its existing emission control infrastructure, reducing air emissions, meeting strict environmental licence limits, and supporting future capacity growth.
This is the second of three shipments - the total scope of work encompasses six stainless steel WESP modules, complete with slide gates and dampers. The system has been engineered to significantly enhance particulate and gaseous emission control while seamlessly integrating into the facility's existing plant and stack arrangement.
The physical scale of the cargo presented immediate logistical hurdles. Each module features imposing dimensions and substantial mass:
- Length: Nearly 11 metres
- Width: 4.5 metres
- Height: 4.1 metres
- Weight: 18 tonnes per shipped unit
Because of their size, the units could not be transported via standard container method. Instead, they required Out-of-Gauge (OOG) handling, with the massive structures spanning four (4) flat racks aboard a breakbulk vessel.
To mitigate risk during the loading phase, Freight Traders Ltd deployed our own staff directly to the Port of Lyttelton. We personally supervised the loading and securing processes, ensuring the 18-tonne modules were perfectly fastened to withstand the voyage.
